The CNN coverage of our renewal campaign is finally confirmed! CNN will feature the Chuck renewal campaign on the air Thursday, May 7, between 1-2PM EST (check local listings for channel number). They’ve tapped our own Gray, producer/co-host of Chuck vs. the Podcast, to appear live along side Josh Schwartz and/or Zachary Levi – depending on schedules – during the segment to discuss the fan campaign.

Tune in, set your DVRs, write yourself a note, do whatever you need to do to make sure you catch this one!

Chuck Campaign: Write a Letter

In addition to providing ratings numbers, we can make a huge impact with a handwritten (or typed but handsigned) letter expressing our desire for a third season of Chuck. One personal letter mailed to the network is worth hundreds, even thousands of signatures on an online petition or emails to the network. If a fan takes the time to write a letter and send it snail mail, that speaks loudly. If hundreds and thousands of fans write letters and send them in snail mail, that speaks at a volume that cannot be ignored. So please, take a few minutes to put pen to paper and write to NBC about your wish for a third season of Chuck.

Guidelines:

DO be respectful.
DON’T be threatening. “I’ll never watch NBC again!” doesn’t have any impact.
DO mention your age, gender and general geographic location. We want to show what a broad fanbase this show has.
DO tell them whether or not you’re a Nielsen viewer. If you’re not a Nielsen viewer, remind them that your viewership still deserves to be counted.
DO tell them if you watch/buy Chuck on other platforms (iTunes, Hulu.com, PS3, etc.)
DO tell them why you want Chuck to stay on the air.
DON’T complain about a storyline that you aren’t fond of. Keep comments about the show positive.
DO handwrite your letter if possible. If not, at least sign it by hand.
DON’T send in a template/form letter. It’s okay to model your letter on someone else’s (we recommend Rachel’s), but make it your own.
DO send in a box of Nerds candy with your letter, as per Josh Schwartz’s suggestion.
DO write today!

On zachary-levi.net there is a list of things we can do to help support the show:

1. Go to the NBC Universal Store and buy some Chuck merchandise. (I like that Buy More mug!)

2. Go to Amazon.com and pre-order the second season of Chuck.

3. Go to NBC.com or Hulu.com and watch your favorite episodes.

4. Go to Subway at least once a week.

This might be the best way to show NBC that canceling Chuck would be a huge mistake. On their website they have a contact page that allows you to fill out a form with your thoughts about a particular show. Direct contact is the best way to get the network’s attention so start typing and maybe we can SAVE CHUCK. http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/

I don’t know how true this is but it’s very interesting. Nikki Finke reports that Chuck’s fate might be tied with a pilot from Warner Bros.

3RD UPDATE: I’ve learned why announcements regarding the renewal fates of Chuck and My Name Is Earl have been delayed. And it involves more horsetrading than the Triple Crown. My sources tell me that NBC lowballed the Earl license fee, and the show’s owner, Twentieth Century Fox, came back with a proposal which NBC has been sitting on for a few days. As for Chuck, this gets complicated. Turns out NBC didn’t like David E Kelley’s Warner Bros pilot Legally Mad. Problem is, there’s a $2 million penalty that gets paid to WB if the network doesn’t pick up the show. So NBC is hoping to work a deal tying the renewal of Chuck, which is also a WB show, to a pass on paying that Legally Mad penalty. [LA Weekly]

#4 – Nerd (Ep. 219: Chuck Versus the Dream Job)

Ah, here we have the classic nerd disguise, and Adam Baldwin wears it well. With a plaid shirt and nerdy glasses (the straps are a nice touch), he fits right in with the computer expo crowd. I love how Chuck doesn’t notice them at first and has to do a double take (very well played by Zachary Levi).
